Pineapple Wine Punch (Ananasbowle)
Makes enough for 8 people (about 20 servings)
Ingredients
1/2 cup superfine sugar*
2 cups chopped fresh pineapple
2 bottles Moselle wine
1/2 bottle champagne or other sparkling wine, or 1 split club soda
Directions
Add sugar to pineapple; let stand 30 minutes. Add wine, chill 1-2 hours. Just before serving, add champagne/club soda.
Recipe from The Art of German Cooking, by Betty Wason
*Superfine sugar may also be labeled as bar sugar or quick-dissolve sugar. It’s just white granulated sugar that’s more fine than granulated sugar, but not as fine as powdered sugar.
I can usually find it at larger grocery stores, or at specialty liquor stores. You can easily make your own by processing regular granulated sugar in a food processor for 1-2 minutes.
