Caraway seeds are highly aromatic and have a distinctive mild anise flavour that adds a subtle liquorice/licorice hint to dishes. Their taste is earthy, with a hint of citrus and pepper.
This bread is delicious with a ripe Camembert and some chilli chutney. Its fairly easy to make and only needs to rise one. It will keep for up to a week.

I don't know how authentically Russian this is (I got the recipe from a potato cook book), but its a nice moist, firm-textured loaf that cuts very easily. It has a lovely subtle caraway flavour.

So I was thinking about carrots. What complements carrots? Aniseed flavours work well with the sweet earthy taste of carrots. OK, what about caraway seeds, that should work. What else do caraway seeds go with? Rye bread! I thought that as carrots work in cake , then they must work in bread too...
