This this such a simple recipe and it looks very pretty too. I served it as a side dish with some lamb chops and mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
12 banana shallots, peeled,and cut in half lengthways
250ml boiling water mixed with 1 heaped tsp Marmite
Butter or margarine
Sprigs of thyme

Method
- Heat the oven to 160 C. Arrange the shallots, cut side up, into an attractive pattern, in an ovenproof dish.
- Pour over the Marmite mixture and scatter with sprigs of thyme. Dot with little pieces of butter or margarine.
- Cover and bake for 1 and 1/2 hours until the shallots are tender.
