Date Paste Without Processor

Sorry if this is in the wrong place!

Does anyone know how to make date paste without a food processor or blender? I just cant find any and there is nowhere to buy it ready made near me.

Hi @Salaad and welcome to CookingBites. Do you have a microwave? If so, there is a recipe here with step by step photos. I think it would work on a stove top in a saucepan if you have no microwave - it would just take longer.

Would a mortar and pestle accomplish grinding it into a paste?

It probably would but the dates still need cooking. I don't know if it would be easier to use a pestle and mortar or just mash with a fork.

I buy date chutney in a jar, it's thick but I add a bit of water with. I get mine from an Indian supermarket. It's $5 from memory.
