Sherlock Holmes was a favourite of mine when I was growing up and these 2 for me were cast perfectly in their roles. They will always be top of my tree.
We watched all those on rebroadcast when we lived there, and having seen Basil Rathbone’s Holmes, and a few others over the years (including parodies), I must say, Jeremy Brett’s portrayal is the gold standard.Sherlock Holmes was a favourite of mine when I was growing up and these 2 for me were cast perfectly in their roles. I must say, for myself, I’ve always preferred David Suchet’s interpretation of Poirot - he perfectly displayed the detective’s ego and fussiness, and Hugh Fraser’s Captain Hastings was hilariously clueless most episodes…and really didn’t seem to mind at all.
