Forum GOD!
So I did a half-a$$ed search and did not find much about this:
What foods float your digestive system in a good or bad way? How did your upbringing and how do your current social norms address flatulence and burping?
When I was growing up, no one passed gas from the derriere around other household members. It just was not done, uncouth, etc. One went to the restroom to expel such gaseousness or you might get an arse whupping. Burps were never permitted at the table while eating, and if sitting around watching TV, we would try to quietly do so as to not incite the wrath of mother about our impolite and unacceptable behavior (you might be sent to bed during Wild Kingdom before the Disney show even started on Sunday evenings).
When I moved in with my husband and ready made family of four children ages 5-11, it was a different environment entirely. Farts were found hilarious and I really didn't know how to handle this. Burps seemed acceptable at the table and it seemed as if derriere gas was not that big of a deal (it was to me). I was flabbergasted. I tried to instill manners in these young children, but until the girls became of an age where boys were highly interesting to them, they thought nothing of what I perceived as rudeness.
These days things are much "quieter" around here since the children have grown and moved out, and when I have visited with them there have been no signs of anything like their adolescent behaviors.
What are the societal norms where you live? Is it acceptable or even complimentary to burp at the table (I have heard this is a thing in some countries).
I would guess we know where derriere gas stands in this melee, LOL. Hoping the dinner table is not a good place for that!
