Have you ever had someone go really over-the-top in complimenting you on something you've made (that you make regularly and is no big deal to you)?

Anyone ever made a lovely meal for you as a "thank you" for the cooking you've done for others?

Any random gifts from people who appreciate your culinary skills?

Any unpleasant surprises, comments or reactions to your cooking?

I made a Shepherd's pie from scratch and I really thought I botched the recipe. I was waiting for a horrible reaction from my family. I was surprised to see they ate it all and wanted more. I do love Shepherd's pie. It is now a regular meal in my home.

1. I hate to sound cocky but I get compliments all of the time: often it's for something that just comes naturally easy to prepare
2. Not recently as I have been super busy, but my sister might tell me to take a break and come eat by her house.
3. Gifts mostly from my mom who knows I love to cook.
3. When I have "a miss" day with dish, my son and husband are sure to let me know. Usually I know before they do and let them know things did not go as expected:).

Mostly just surprise when people realise you can eat a hearty, tasty homemade meal that is vegan and that they want more of!

Often I do the catering at my parents gatherings and people frequently have no idea what they are eating is vegan or vegetarian until afterwards. The best bit is when the deserts I make (vegan) ate eaten and polished off long before the shop bought stuff is.

The thank you usually comes in the form of them wanting the recipe.
My brother who is a chef has actually asked for some of my recipes and introduced them where he works!

1) Yes, it happens more often than I care to admit but here I am admitting it.
2) Yes! This is one of my favourite things. I like the exchanging of talents between two people or sharing of cultures.
3) Yes, I've gotten a few crazy things & a few 'normal' things. The best (& most outlandish) would have to be a 100 year old pre-prohibition (turned medicinal after) bottle of whiskey. I want to save that one for a special occasion.
4) Alas, yes, but this has less to do with overall taste & more to do with personal preference. As in so & so doesn't like pecans or this one doesn't care for quinoa.
