Ingredient specific questions

Somewhere to put questions or chat about specific ingredients
Chat or questions about specific ingredients just go in this area. So if you're talking about chicken, it just goes into the meat and poultry area. If you're wanting to talk about soy milk, then it could go into beverages or vegan and vegetarian... or almond milk, the choice would be fruit and nuts or beverages.

It's why we use the prefix. If you want to just see all the recipes in a specific forum, go to that forum and filter by prefix recipe.

So this is the The Veg Plot, & Growing to Preserving and these are the recipes in The Veg Plot, & Growing to Preserving recipes.

Have I understood you correctly?

Oh ok 👍
It’s just this is under the cooking bites cafe which says quite explicitly it’s not for anything to do with food or cooking.

Edit: was in the cooking bites cafe but moved to site support.

I also sometimes find it difficult to find some of the information I’m looking for. So for example with eggs someone said the best way to pressure cook them, someone else said what temp they need to be to make mayo, someone else said how to sous vide them, some else said how best to centre to yolks etc etc
One conversation deviated slightly from one specific point about eggs in general conversation (but was still relevant) and that was split off into yet another thread.

All this info is all over the place and the search facility only works well with main keywords. So you can get pages and pages of stuff to sift through to find that post you’re after.

It's, the Cafe isn't for ingredient specific question, or in fact anything cooking related. It's where everything else goes to.

That's what the tags are for. I try to add them when I find threads without tags. Anyone can add them to any thread. If you click on the egg tag for instance, anything to do with eggs anywhere should come up if the thread has the tag.

Used correctly, pressure cooking an egg, should be 2 tags in the search tag field, egg and adult enough pressure cooker. But being people to add tags is hard sadly and the automatic addition only works on single words that are exact matches, so apple crumble only matches apple if it is apple, not apples as we tend to think of them

Is it possible to tag a single post in a conversation? Often the little gems are just one or two posts not worth a separate thread on it’s own.
I do book mark them at the time if I think I’ll want it later but more often than not I don’t know I’m going to want the info until later on.

I'm assuming you mean thread rather than conversion (which to me at least implies inbox and messages). No, I'm afraid it isn't. The best you can do is to make sure that thread has tags that are correct (it does not have to be your thread to correct the tags) and/or bookmark it.
