I have seen different packages labeled 80% lean ground chuck and 80% lean ground beef at the grocery store. The store employee said it's the same. Is there any significant difference? Thank you.
me too! This is the first time I've heard of ground chuck
Used to be a weekend job at one place you , would have too whole chucks , take the blade out and either dice or mince the restme too!
Thank you very much.Chuck steak comes from a particular part of the animal: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_steak. 'Lean ground beef' is a generic term and could be from various parts. Its not really possible to tell if there would be a difference, given the generic terms. They could be the same thing but might not be!!!
Calories
One of the most significant ways in which ground chuck and 80 percent lean ground beef differ is in the calorie content of the meat types. A 4-ounce serving of ground chuck has 380 calories, while a 4-ounce serving of 80 percent lean ground beef contains 278 calories. The 102-calorie difference may seem significant, but it is just 5 percent of the daily suggested intake of 2,000 calories. You can burn 102 calories in less than 30 minutes of weightlifting."
Did you follow the link though?Thank you very much.
Thank you as well. I think Chuck and Chuck Norris comes to mind. Never knew we had it in the kitchen. Very educational.
