Ingredients:
- 200 g ground beef
- 1 clove of garlic
- 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- Burger buns
- cheddar slices (optional)
- Sauce:
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1 cup tomato puree or grated tomato
- 3 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp butter
Instructions: - Mix the ground beef with breadcrumbs and the spices
- Mince the garlics and add to the mixture
- Knead until combined and make thin burger patties slighlty larger than the buns
- In a saucepan, add the olive oil and minced garlic, cook for 1-2 minutes on low heat
- Add the tomato puree, the ketchup and season with black pepper
- Cook and stir for 5 minutes
- Add the butter and let it simmer until the sauce thickens
- Brush the bottom part of the buns with the sauce and place the patties on top
- In a hot grill pan, grill the patties with the bottom part of the buns facing up
- Place a lid on top of the burgers to maximize the contact with the pan
- Brush the top part of the buns with the sauce and cover the burgers with the buns
- Cover the bottom of the pan with wet baking papers and place the burgers into the pan
- Place cheddar or mozzarella slices into the burgers (optional)
- Pour the sauce over the burgers and cover the pan with a lid to create steam
- Cook for 5 minutes on low heat with the steam
- Burgers are ready once the buns are soaked with the sauce
