Maple bourbon walnut torte

We were invited to a birthday party, and I was asked to bring the cake. This is a cake that I hadn't made in several years, but it's one of my favorites. I forgot to take a current picture tonight, but this old picture of a 3 layer version is almost the same.

It was 4 layers, walnut torte, each layer topped with a bittersweet chocolate ganache. Filled between the layers with a maple syrup/bourbon French buttercream. The whole thing draped in sweet dark chocolate ganache, then crusted in chopped walnuts.

I was reminded why I don't make it very often - it's a lot of work and a LOT of calories!
