Peanut butter and jelly, apples and cinnamon. A lot of foods are just natural pairs. What about maple syrup and mustard? Why not? The sweetness of the syrup and the kick of the mustard tend to manage each other into a nice savory flavor. So here is a simple but very tasty chicken dish that is marinated with this combination. Wife approved by the way.
Ingredients:
2 chicken breasts butterflied
1/4 cup maple syrup
4 tbsp Dijon mustard
2 tbsp cajun seasoning - Click here to see the seasoning I used.
1 tbsp wine vinegar
Instructions:
Put all the ingredients into a large plastic freezer bag, seal and shake to combine the ingredients. Then set it out for a 4 hour marination. At cooking time, oil a skillet and put the contents of the bag to saute. About half of the marinade should suffice. When the chicken is done, plate it and pour some marinade on top to serve. During this time you should open a beer. It is good to stay hydrated in front of a hot stove.
