I'd really like to grow a few things this year... and I'd like to plant some of those things in the spring. Problem there is that we can (and often do) have frosts here into late April and early May. I remember a strong freeze one year on my mom's birthday which is in the middle of May.
Is there anything that can be planted in the spring (early spring, that is) that a freeze in late April wouldn't destroy? I've always heard that peas should be planted around St. Patrick's Day, but... well, mid March seems much too early for that.
I'm in the northeast of the US if anyone can advise.
