Mod Edit: Taken from the CookingBites recipe challenge page.
I went to Mum's today. We had a second Christmas dinner! I remembered to ask about the Marmite biscuits. She said that she got the recipe from nan (her mum) and it could have been a war time recipe. She wrote it out for me. So here it is. I haven't tried making it but I do remember that she made them when my friends came round and we all loved them.
Ingredients
8 ounces flour
2 ounces lard
2 teaspoons marmite
some water
Method
Heat up the oven to a moderate heat.
Rub the fat into the flour until it is like breadcrumb.
Add water slowly until it makes a ball of dough.
Roll out on a floured surface until quite thin.
Spread with marmite and fold it over and roll it again.
Cut into fingers and bake until done (about ten minutes).
