Smelts! I recall when I lived in Santa Cruz CA there was this time that there were lord only knows how many smelts swimming into the harbor, by the boatload. They were swimming up the river to lay eggs. I went down there with a net and bucket and brought pounds back to the house. The cats were happy and we were *done* eating baitfish...

Oh dear lord, my OH's family (the elders anyway) LOVE smelts. Ugh. They eat them bones and all. I tried them and not a fan. I ate a few to be polite. You're right, they belong on the end of a hook to catch bigger fish!

So I did cancel my order, but they sent it anyway and didn't charge me for it. No harm no foul if it ends up not working the way I hoped or any part of it breaks like some reviewers stated happened to them.

I wonder if you smoke buffalo mozzarella in it’s liquid how that turns out 🤔
Bets it’s lovely, probably mild though having to travel through all the liquid first.
