No picture yet. I make some every year because these are honestly my very favorite holiday cookies, so I'll add a picture then. But, they look exactly like tiny snowballs.

You have to use margarine. I've tried with real butter and they just aren't as good. My mother made these as long as i can remember. She used Imperial margarine so that's what i use.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup margarine, very soft
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups flour
1/4 cup 10x/icing/powdered sugar
1 Tbsp water
1 cup fairly finely chopped pecans

10x sugar for tossing

DIRECTIONS

Cream margerine, vanilla and sugar. Stir in water. Add flour. Mix well. Shape into 1 inch balls. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet in 300 F oven about 20 minutes until firm. Break 1 open to see if cooked through. It's very obvious if there is still raw dough in the center. Cool completely. Place a good amount of 10x sugar in a plastic bag and toss about 6 cookies at a time. I toss all of them, then go back and do it again. Also, i store the cookies in the same plastic bag with the sugar. The cookies will absorb the sugar from the first toss and be splotchy so you have to do it twice.

I make these. I have always called them as pecan puffs. My recipe is slightly different. I use butter and regular sugar in the balls.
