The daily news is generally dominated by misery and daily life isn’t always a breeze so here’s a good news thread to balance things up.
It’s for your personal good news (things that brought you cheer) on both a simple level like “I passed my test” or “I booked a holiday” or “I got a new car” but also things that you’ve seen in the news that feel like good news.

We’ll get to enjoy each other's joys and share news items that bring some cheer.
I realise this forum is mostly for the joy in life, food we all enjoy sharing and talking about, I’m sure that for the most part has a positive impact for everyone here.
Reading positive things can make a good start (or middle or end) for everyone’s day so shall we give a good news thread a go?

This is in the news this morning, it starts off sounding distinctly uncheery so bear with.
One of the most severe forms of blindness in children is something called leber congenital amaurosis (LCA), a type of retinal dystrophy. The babies are registered blind from birth and will even lose the small changes between light and dark they can see.

Dr’s at Moorfields have just cracked using gene therapy to help restore vision. The children can now see so much more, they can recognise their parents faces and move around easily some can even read and write, that level of result was never expected.

There’s a short vid 1min 42secs in this article that’s rather lovely.

Let’s see…I had my annual performance review and that went ok, and I got the monetary part of it yesterday, an increase that was higher than last year’s (but not as high as it should’ve been…sorry, I just can’t help myself! 😆).
Always a relief when those review thingamyjiggys are out of the way and more money, hooray!
They can’t pay you what you’re worth.. they couldn’t afford you!!

Took a woman with many *needs*, I call her Ineeda and she loves it ☺️, to the foodbank and they put about 80 lbs. of food in my truck and took it back to her house. Her two kids, Lexy and Riley, were so ecstatic! Her little daughter, Lexy, was whispering to Jessica, aka Ineeda, "Is he going to be bringing us food?". I will when I can!

Marvellous. The world needs more people like you!

My company is doing their twice-yearly disaster testing, which is a right PITA, with folks having to work around-the-clock for two days…all the stuff I work on was pushed to a later date, so no work for me this weekend! :woot:
