Is that a monitor lizard?
Impressive little fella!
No it's a shingleback (Tiliqua rugosa). A member of the blue tongue lizard family.

Shingleback Lizard

They are a gorgeous, slow moving, harmless lizard. The tail looks like the head, and the scales are what gives it its common (non-native name of shingleback, like the shingles on a roof. We have several in our garden area but they do roam far and wide. Last year the one in the veg plot was very identifiable because of the lichen growing on it. Fantastic camouflage.

Australians really like them. They'll skid to a halt, swerve violently or even drive off the road to avoid hitting them (no longer than an adult rabbit so isn't going to damage the vehicle at all) but they'll crash before driving on over if they can. (Sadly not the same can be said for snakes.) Usually you can just straddle them because they freeze rather than run, so you'll know it won't end up under the vehicle wheels.

QUite strong wind gusts, although it is 29c today and sunny...some clouds pass by...apparently some rain tomorrow morning ...

One can hear the leaves rustle from my room at work...( hoping that's the verb)...

Love the shape of the willow in the wind. 'Rustle' is indeed the correct verb.
