Tornado Storms in December, USA?

We've been having some really severe tornado generating squall storms ripping through the midwest and upper eastern US states in the past week. Kentucky and Tennessee were ripped earlier and now, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota. One of my sisters lives where a tornado ripped through Tennessee.

She seems to have survived it. My other sister in Nashville, may have experienced a close one too.
