Vanilla sugar

Does anyone use vanilla sugar? It’s easy enough to make (granulated sugar and…wait for it…a vanilla bean).

I had a spare bean hanging around, decided to give it a a go, and I must say, I like it quite a bit. I’m finding that anything that calls for granulated sugar, I reach for the vanilla sugar first.

That cherry soda cocktail I made yesterday called for simple syrup, so I made some with the vanilla sugar. Worked really well.

I think that would go really well in the crumb topping for blueberry muffins!

used to get 'the real thing' from a Swedish source on Amazon - not there anymore . . .
most of the offerings use artificial flavorings.

I prefer to DIY but using powdered/10x/confectionery/icing sugar.

same idea - jar with tight lid, sugar & real vanilla bean.
great for waffles, pancakes, crepes, cookies, tarts, etc.
it's adds that 'hmmm, why is this so good' factor . . .
