What did you cook or eat today (August 2022)?

caseydog and TastyReuben I never bothered to look at the price of Boar's Head meats & cheeses before the Pandemic.
As prices of meat (ie. Pork Chops, Steaks, Chicken Thighs, etc.) went up, I made wiser choices in my shopping.
Then it dawned on my not long ago, I'm spending $11-15/lb. on lunch meats and cheeses? Why am I being so damn stingy with our steaks? I now buy gorgeous Rib Eyes and my next time around I'm trying Fillet Mignon! Never cooked Fillet Mignon before, but I can give it a go.

Filet mignon (beef tenderloin) is very good, but very lean. Medium rare, for sure. Not a lot of beef flavor, but melt-in-your-mouth tender. Season generously. It is a good cut of steak for a sauce. My favorite is peppercorn sauce (steak au poivre).

Lunch out due to medical appointments.

Vegan Tacos

followed by a vegan tofu steak stirfry for myself and hubby had the Earthling burger, basically a plant based meatless burger. Not my thing if I can avoid it but he enjoyed it.

It's Neighborhood Gal Pals gathering at the Community one over from ours for Bingo!
I don't like to cook before going out for the evening, so I picked take-out linners for us two while I was out-and-about running errands.
