What Dried Mushrooms Do I Get For Polish Bigos Stew?

It's that time of year again where all the central services departments get together for a Christmas Buffet Lunch! Previously I've made chillie con carne, curry goat and a lamb tagine - this year I want to give a Polish stew called Bigos a go but I've never purchased dried mushrooms before...

I'm based in the UK and normally shop at Aldi, Tesco, Asda or Sainsburys (depending on what I need) and I've never purchased dried mushrooms before so no idea are they on a shelf in a jar/tub or in a packet near the normal mushrooms?

I want to be as authentic as possible so will be getting the saurkraut and kielbasa from the polish refrigerator section.

Thinking about it I have purchased dried shiitake mushrooms before but I'm guessing this is not what they have in Poland!

In the Polish community here in NE Ohio they use porcini.

I googled it and saw recipes that called for a variety of mushrooms including cremini and forest mushrooms so it doesn't sound like you can go wrong if you use other ones too.

A quick google tells me the most common mushrooms in Poland are chanterelles and ceps, but I'm just quoting other sources.
I'd go and find a Polish grocery or delicatessen (there must be one in Northampton) and work it out from there.

Porcini are common in Poland so that may be the easiest to find as most supermarkets sell them. What other meat besides sausages are you using? Bigos usually has rabbit, game, pork or beef,

I get dried Porcini mushrooms and grind them to powder. Then just add to recipes/dishes.
