I saw some in Makro yesterday. I was almost tempted to buy them. c. US$25.00/kg.

Yep. These are SGD $35/KG so same price.

There were bigger ones than these (almost double) and going for SGD $80/kg. Price goes up near CNY.

These ones are farmed. That place also sells ocean-caught wild ones but those are double the price for the same size. They do taste a bit better though, but these ones are ok.

Here’s a little on the CNY craziness round here:

Pomfret going for as high as $100 a kg as some fish prices double ahead of CNY

If I wait till Sunday to buy them they’ll be twice as much so I buy and freeze.

I work for Italians. Sometimes I get produce from their garden. Look at this monster. Easy 3kg.

Tromboncino are pretty rare here. Seeds would have been smuggled in a suitcase from what I’m told. The long “neck” is seedless and the flesh is like a cross over of butternut squash & zucchini. Delicious.

I don't like squash, but that's a beauty, almost a shame to cook it.
