Hello, I'm looking to buy a wireless meat thermometer with probes that you leave in the meat throughout the cooking process, monitoring internal temperature on an external display or in smartphone app. Researching various brands and models, the most common complaints seem to be a short lifespan and inconsistent performance generally.

Is anyone here aware of any consensus among chefs and cooking enthusiasts as to the best brand or model to invest in? I’m hoping to order something today while Cyber Monday sales are active. Any suggestions or feedback much appreciated!!

Shamefully I have three. The first one with mediocre connectivity the ‘Meater’ I liked the app and I believe they’ve improved the connectivity now but if you’re going to move your phone away from the oven it will disconnect.

The ‘Thermopro’. Much stronger connnection, better design, much cheaper than the Meater, not so good an app but you get used to it.

Then lastly the one I have just bought from Ninja because it goes up to 370c (700f) which none of the other thermometers I own do. Most thermometers max out at around 240c (460f).
I’ve only used it once and it did lose the connection twice even though neither the joint I was cooking or the phone was moved a single inch. But the reviews for it are good and it will be handy for those higher heats.

Personally for the money and the strong connection I favour the ‘Thermopro Tempspike’ I see it’s currently quite discounted on amazons Black Friday sale.

Hello and thanks for the feedback. I ended up buying two devices on Amazon, the Chef IQ 3 probe device and the Typhur 2 probe device, links below:
  1. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C7JNJW2N
  2. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CKW2J6JD
The Chef IQ device was delivered 4 days ago and we've had the opportunity to try it twice, once with steaks and once with lamb chops, and it worked really great! So far we love it. The Typhur just came today and we haven't tried it yet. Maybe tomorrow.

Will report back once we've had time to give them both a decent try out. Cheers!
