½ cup solid vegetable shortening

1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup flour

Here's a really nice jam recipe. There's plenty of rhubarb around at the moment, so if you get fed up of crumbles, you can always make a batch of this to last you until the soft summer fruits are ready to go.
