rosemary
Rosemary is a shrub with fragrant, evergreen, needle-like leaves and white, pink, purple, or blue flowers whose leaves are used as a culinary herb.
Salvia rosmarinus, commonly known as rosemary, is a shrub with fragrant, evergreen, needle-like leaves and white, pink, purple, or blue flowers, native to the Mediterranean region. Until 2017, it was known by the scientific name Rosmarinus officinalis, now a synonym.
It is a member of the sage family Lamiaceae, which includes many other medicinal and culinary herbs. The name "rosemary" derives from Latin ros marinus ("dew of the sea"). The plant is also sometimes called anthos, from the ancient Greek word ἄνθος, meaning "flower". Rosemary has a fibrous root system.
This is a great recipe for the glut of courgettes you get in summer. It can be served hot or warm and is pretty good at picnics minus the tomato sauce. The original recipe comes from the long since defunct BBC Vegetarian Good Food magazine I used to subscribe to back in the 1990's!

This beer bread is easy, delicious, and goes extremely well with soups, stews, and pasta. It also makes an excellent sandwich bread, especially for tomato sandwiches. I couldn’t swear to it, but I think the recipe is originally from one of the Heartsmart cookbooks by Bonnie Stern...
The aniseed flavour of fennel is a very good partner for cabbage and rosemary adds a lovely aromatic flavour to this dish. Use any sort of beans you wish. I used borlotti, because I had some to use up but green flageolet beans or haricot beans would look pretty. I served this dish with potatoes...
My all time favourite fish is red mullet. Its known as the woodcock of the sea and with due cause. It has a gamey taste unlike any other fish and ideally the liver should be retained when it is cleaned; its a delicacy to be savoured.
With such fine, fresh fish as these are, there is little to...
My wife gave away a pile of Rosemary the other day, to a Brazilian lady who said her husband makes Rosemary butter for their lamb. I've been thinking about it, should I just chop and mash it into the butter or try and infuse?? I could giggle it but someone here may steer me in the right...

You could make this soup by substituting potato for parsnip, but I think that the parsnip adds a pleasing sweetness to the beans and works well with tarragon. Dried tarragon is fine to use here. Its a herb which retains its pungency. If you prefer a thick soup, simply use less stock or water...
