Aprons

I have two aprons but favour a xxxl large mans shirt because it has sleeves and gives better coverage.
One heavyweight chambray one for the UK and a flower pattern one in spain. The dark flower pattern one definitely does a better job against hiding tomato or spice splatter! I find they wash better and more easily than a traditional apron too.

I bought the last one in the sale from a mans plus size website and moved the cuff buttons so I’m not drowned in it and they stay on my wrists.
Because putting a cotton shirt over my clothing does such a good job I never bother with the real aprons.
Never understood an aprons lack of coverage on the top half, that’s the bit that’s in the splatter zone!

Must say, I’m stoked/dead chuffed (pick your saying) over my new apron:

MrsT really nailed it down with this gift - perfect. It’s patterned, it’s long, it’s 100% cotton, it’s full of attention to detail (I simply love that it has ties of two colors!), it’s comfortable, it doesn’t have D-rings for the neck strap (D-rings must have been invented by Satan himself to generally put all humankind in a pizzy mood), and it comes from a little kitchen linens company in the south of France, 150 years old and still family-owned (Tissage Moutet).

I love it!

I love it too! I want one!

Here’s the website:

Tissage Moutet depuis 1874

And a nice little video about the company:

MrsT bought mine locally from the gourmet grocery store I frequent (Dorothy Lane Markets). She won’t tell me what she paid, but I know it’s listed there for $84, and she said it was on sale for $20 below that, then added, “…but I got even more off” - so I’m guessing $50-$60.

I want all their stuff now!

Thank you!

My new fancy-man apron has transformed me - I’d normally have a a beer while boiling some corn-on-the-cob, but as soon as I donned that apron, I was sautéing mushrooms in butter and pouring myself a glass of Sauvignon blanc - Je n’en reviens pas! 😱

Lovely!
Had a look at their website. Very nice 👌
I need to find a US based store that carries them. I have a feeling that with S&H across the pond I am not going to get nearly as good a price as MrsT did.
