Okay I am confused now, LOL. Who would eat spaghetti Bolognese with an additional serving of pasta as a side?

Pasta Alfredo with pork chops and apple sauce.
Beef casserole with macaroni & cheese.
Chicken cacciatore with linguine marinara.
That's what MG is talking about ( I think).
No criticism at all of those who like those combinations; everyone is entitled to eat what they want. It's just an unusual combination for British ( and probably European) eaters.

I do know something about the history of Southern foods in the USA. It's really quite interesting. Feel free to start a new thread.

I like stories about the holiday food traditions (coming up)--like New Year's good fortune foods in various regions and cultures (black-eyed peas in the south US). Up here in NE Ohio it's pork and sauerkraut for a lot of people but where I grew up it was black-eyed peas, greens, and cornbread.
