It was a yellow tube with red writing on it, as I remember with a liquorice straw which didn't work as a straw at all!Was that the little tub with like a straw in it?
Is that the same as popping candy?Space dust. I remember the first time I tried that. Then it became trendy in restaurant desserts.

I was one of those kids that grew up with an incredibly well fed sweet tooth,
here in the states. Some of these i know are no more, some are still around.

Well I don't know about Tic Tacs not being a childhood sweet my kids certainly ate plenty of them when they were growing up. lol
I would really like to hear of more of the interesting sweets and snacks in UK and Aust.
There are so many. - there is a tradition of hard boiled sweets. Here are some I remember:
Army and Navy
Rhubarb and Custard
Pear Drops (these are strange as they taste like nail polish)
Pineapple cubes
Winter mix (these tasted like cough sweets and used to be my favourite as a kid)
Humbugs (the black and white striped)
