Christmas presents for cooks

I was sitting here working, or at least supposed to be, and realized that there is 1 cookie that I make for Christmas that has to have margarine used. I tried making them with butter 1 year, thinking it would make them even better, nope, they didn't hold their shape or taste right.

I've never made a dessert with margarine. Butter, only.
I actually suspect why a lot of baked goods from supermarkets and the like disagree with me - is margarine.

Today only folks, Sur La Table has an extra 25% off 1 item using Thanks19 code. Free shipping over $59. Unfortunately, the really good stuff like Le Cruset is not included, but looks like there is some nice stuff included on a quick look.

Just found out we're all going in on a bread machine for my mom. Technically, it's not a Christmas gift, we have to call it "a spontaneous purchase for you that we just happen to be bringing over on 25 Dec."

The way it'll go, though: "Oh, thanks, I can't wait to use that," followed by a lot of, "I haven't used it yet, but I'm going to," and ultimately ending with, "I can't figure the blamed thing out! It's too complicated and I'm just too old for all this newfangled stuff!"

My parents got a pasta roller/cutter attachment for their KintchenAid mixer. They used it like crazy... for about six months. I don't think they have touched it in the last ten years.

I still can't think of any kitchen items I want - and people are asking. I've already got too many cookery books - I really only use them for reference and can't justify any more new ones. Plus, I've run out of shelf space.

Maybe a some specialist ingredients...

I’d like to have a fresh pasta making...
