Forum GOD!
I find the slow cooker extremely useful, more so when my kids were living at home and I was working out of the house for long periods of time. There were plenty of times the kids were home before I was home from work and having a hot, nutritious meal in the crockpot (like a soup, stew, chili, or pot roast) was good and kept my DH from ordering them pizza! Now I still use it, mostly when I am making a Bolognese sauce overnight or simmering bones for stock overnight.I don't use slow cookers.
That link was just the first I found and it sounds pretty odd, to first cook them and then move to the slow cooker ..
Anyway, in my mind that cooking part just got remembered as 'cook beans hard for 10 minutes'
The type of beans got pushed into the background.
Sorry, off topic.
