My first pick would be the UK, because it’s my favoritest place of all places, and we have a load of active members who already live there, or could make it there.

Yes, we also have a lot of US members, but…UK! 🇬🇧

Second choice would actually be…The Netherlands! We have Windigo already there, and we could possibly tempt badjak back for a visit, and it’s easily reached by many of our other Euro/UK friends.

Also, I promised Windigo I’d make pancakes for her and her family if I’m ever in her area again, so I need to get that taken care of! 🥞

Well I would be honored to host any Cookingbites member of course, but especially one who wishes to make pancakes for me 😄 you're most welcome, and everyone else too of course. Because the Netherlands are small, it's probably the most easy country to visit.

But the UK has the language advantage, as all of us understand English and I don't think too many can understand Dutch. So that seems a solid reason to prefer the UK.

Italy is an option for me because my husband agreed already that in 2026 we will visit there anyway 😄
As for Africa, America or Asia, however much I would love to go, my health doesn't permit it due to the risk of my clotting disorder causing mayhem.

That's very well possible :smug:

Windigo : Most Dutch speak English so comms should not be a problem, esp not in the west and centre of the country.
And getting around is relatively easy..

Anyway, lets see what everyone says

And we'd have a couple of interpreters as well!

If we go to Europe, it won't be a short trip and I would like to make time to not only visit my DH's family in Italy but go to other countries and the UK as well, so...but like I said before, it's going to take some planning and I have to get DH on board.

For those "outsiders"...
Remember Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Netherlands are all EU countries, so once you are in, no more visa required.
The UK is outside, so that's another visa
Ah well Americans on short visits or in transit through the UK can just do an ETA which is £10 and not a lot of trouble to apply for.

All of those countries sound like a good plan, so maybe if we end up in one spot altogether, my DH and I might be knocking on your doors at home a few weeks later...
Well that would be a nice surprise. Although you’d have to turn off your ocd because some of my cupboards might frighten you 😂

Well you've got a year to fix it hahaha

Just kidding, clutter doesn't bother me much, it's lack of hygiene that scares me. Besides, it would be rude of me to open your cupboards and even more so to comment on them.
