Every time I make something with several things happening at once, I constantly misplace my spatula. It’s never next to the stove. Where did it go? You’d think I’d be more organized by now, but it never fails. Sometimes it’s next to the sink. Other times it’s next to the cutting board. Occasionally it’s actually near the stove.

By the way, that picture is not my kitchen (mine is much messier and older) and that’s not me (likewise).
 
I very often forget my garnishes. Bits of chopped parsley. Coriander. Spring onion in tiny little ringlets - all lovingly prepared ahead of time and stashed in the fridge prior to me doing the main work of the meal cooking.

I'll remember them later when we've nearly finished eating.

I do that more often than not, and have commented on it here several times.

I don’t even prep them ahead of time - it’s right while I’m cooking, just before plating, and I’ll still forget. I’m forever rushing over to MrsT and sprinkling chives or parsley or green onion tops on her half-eaten meal.
 
I don't know if this is silly or not, but my late mother-in-law used to lightly scold me for cleaning up in the kitchen when having people over for dinner. She said that washing up plates, pots, pans etc. after any food items had been eaten was a signal that I was ready for guests to leave. Now the way that my kitchen is set up the dining room is right next to it on the other side of a granite counter that has 6 barstools on the dining room side (plus one on the end and one on the kitchen side where I like to sit) and the table has 8 chairs. If I have just 6 or so people over, they are all seated at the granite countertop facing me enjoying cocktails and conversation and it's not uncommon for me to gather up plates, rinse, and load them in the dishwasher soon after dinner was over. The sink is right there facing my guests so I can converse with them while cleaning. Anyway, I stil do it.

Of course that doesn't happen so I end up with many a surprise meal :)

I have done that too, though more often than not over the past few years I have labeled everything. Now can I always read what I wrote when I may have had a few too many glasses of wine? LOL!

I’ve been known to do this too, but my husband does it constantly. He’ll even leave the garnish out of the fridge, and manage to forget even when it’s right there on the cutting board in front of him!
