I don't think I've ever had them. I like the name but then I always did like Tonka toysTonka beans (often used in perfume) are banned in the US for culinary use. They aren't banned in the UK. I have a nice little tin of them. They are brilliant in desserts/cakes/ice-cream.

What do they taste of?
Yes. Pure mustard oil is toxic. I can buy one here that is a mix of mustard oil and vegetable oil which is permitted.Cassave can be poisonous if not prepared properly.
I believe mustard oil too, although it is used plenty in India, but I think it's not allowed for consumption in the USA
... do you mean gin & tonic? What are the effects of tonic bean poisoning?
There is tonic poisoning, it's the quinine in it but I think that perhaps my mind was wandering somewhere else, somewhere refreshing possibly involving tonic... do you mean gin & tonic?
Ahh, the tonka bean, yes. Excessive dosage can cause nausea, vomiting , dizziness and, eventually, liver damage, according to the FDA and the BBC, because of the high amounts of coumarin . However, you only need a very fine shaving of the bean to open up a whole new world of exotic flavours.
I was under the impression it's fine to eat the potatoes themselves so long as you peel off green parts or the sprouts.Everyone loves some good ol' spuds, right? But if they've turned green or, even worse, started sprouting, it's best to steer clear. Potatoes like that have higher levels of solanine, which can make you sick as a dog if you eat 'em.
I thought so too. Must check this out.I was under the impression it's fine to eat the potatoes themselves so long as you peel off green parts or the sprouts.
