Since I'm obsessed with pizza and stuff, I figured we can all relate to this. This always cracks me up when I see it....mostly because it's absolutely true.

Pizza place
I worked at a pizza place many decades ago, and we didn't make salad like that. LOL Things must have changed. I don't usually order salad from a pizza place. The last few times I did order a salad, there were the sliced black olives on it. YUCK! For some reason, I think the sliced black olives have a metallic flavor, taste like the can.

I've worked at a few pizza places in my day and I've never been impressed with the salads that were offered. If your salad uses ALL iceberg lettuce, count me out 🤮 iceberg should only be used as a "filler" and that is sometimes even too much. I always tried to make the best salads I could with the available stuff they used, but every place I worked at had low quality ingredients. You could tell that salads were just something they added to the menu to try and be more "diverse", but failed miserably.

I never order a salad from a pizza place! Just the pie. But then again, I rarely order salads from any restaurants unless I am dining in at a fine dining establishment (hopefully with an open kitchen concept). I have known too many people who have gotten food-borne illnesses from eating salads at restaurants.

I agree on the iceberg, too bland. I like green or red leaf lettuces, arugula, baby spinach, etc.

I remember years ago when I worked in an Italian restaurant as a server, the guy who was washing the dishes also was making the salads, and I wasn't sure he was always washing his hands because I was out in the dining room taking care of customers. Pretty sure he was always rushed for time and probably wasn't washing his hands after putting the buss pans and dishes near/in the sink then turning to the salad station.

I have seen at pizza places when picking up the pizza where the same person who is cutting my pizza and boxing it is also handling credit cards and cash payments. If that person is making the salads too, how do I know they are washing their hands? I have also seen workers who were wearing gloves and handling food also handling pens, the phone, payments, etc. and then they go right back to handling food without changing gloves and washing hands. It just grosses me out. Which is why I always reheat my pizza when it comes home to make sure to kill any germs. I do that with most of my takeout food, actually. I will order a takeout steak cooked rare and then finish cooking (to medium-rare) before eating. And so forth.

Pizza joints should stick to pizzas and, to be honest, some of them can't even get that right.
Iceberg lettuce is probably the blandest of all, but also the cheapest. Go figure.
I only ever order pizza , and the salads, if at all, get made at home.

(P.S.) I still haven't eaten pizza , two months after returning from Cinci, given the severe overdose I experienced there. I did buy some pepperoni yesterday, however, so a pizza is on the books.   . I've eaten Indian, Mexican, Spanish, Venezuelan, English, American burgers, Greek, Thai , Lebanese, Japanese, Chinese and Italian - but no pizza)

Puggles is here to help you like pizza again.

Most places have certain things they do better than others. A lot of times that's a small portion of the menu. The other stuff is just filler and some if it rarely ever moves. I've never really heard anybody say "let's go to this place because they make a really good salad!"
On another note, there are no good, consistent pizza places in our town. Once you get a good crust recipe established, you can come up with something just as good and even better for a whole lot cheaper. I have become very cynical about getting take out around here. Too bad because I would love to order once and a while. But, after getting too many pizzas with double sadness and disappointment for 40 bucks, I've decided that I'll pass.

I do like a good cold antipasto with pizza.
I'm thinking in New Jersey you can likely find them pretty easily. But better made by your own hands I'm also inclined to believe.

I know of only a few places around here that I could find a good antipasto and they're all mom and pop Italian-American owned. My DH could do just fine making it himself.

Yeah, we get from local mom & pop pizza places.

Hey kk I'm watching "Diners Drive ins and Dives" and there's this place in Utah that is doing Indian food fusion pizzas lol. Like masala sauce, curries, paneer, and more.
