Mine has a generous amount of sauce on top, with bread crumbs over it,it goes crisp around the side, kids go for the sides crunchy bits first.

I sprinkled bread crumbs over the cauliflower cheese that I made last week. I found it was too crunchy. They were bought bread crumbs

I make my own a mix of white bread and whole meal. I use it mainly on croquettes.

I've always made my own in the past but they were a little unsatisfactory with the cordon bleu so I thought I'd buy some ready prepared. I probably won't bother with the breadcrumbs on cauliflower cheese in future. I've never used them before.

It could be the cheese sauce, I use a powdered mix that I add cream to.
