Homemade baked beans

All beans are haricot. Haricot is just the French word for bean. Haricots verde are green (verde) beans.
 
Okay, I can get navy beans which looked more like those and this site says they're haricot beans. I must say the navy beans look a *lot* more like yours than the ones I cooked.

Ahhh, but beans came from the Americas, not from France!
You're right, of course - haricot is French for beans.
Here in Venezuela,beans are called caraotas. In Mexico, they call them frijoles. (Long) green beans ( which we sometimes call French beans) are called vainitas (same word for a sword sheath!) here. In Mexico, they also have vainilla (vanilla) from the same linguistic root.
I just call them beans :laugh: :laugh:
