Hot Cross Buns

Hot cross buns! Hot cross buns!
One a penny two a penny - Hot cross buns
If you have no daughters, give them to your sons
One a penny two a penny - Hot cross buns

Maybe it's just me, but every time I hear the term hot cross buns, I think of the first time I played a musical instrument, and learned to read music by.
Odd really as its such a British rhyme - one a penny, two a penny hot cross buns. - based on the street cry of hot cross bun vendors. I wonder, were the two a penny buns smaller or something...?

Don't know about that, but some of the hot cross buns you buy in supermarkets are quite tiny. Not like the ones in your recipe :D

There you go!

Just out of the oven. I couldn't pipe the crosses too well (shaky hands this morning) so I used the handle of a teaspoon to spread them on. Also used warmed honey for the glaze. The gap in the front is where I had to test one  Really nice and soft.

They look great!
