How is the corona virus affecting you?

It is weird. We went to our doctor's surgery this morning to pick up a prescription. Apparently, dispensing prescriptions is all thats keeping them busy. Where have all the sick folks gone?
I've seen one or two stories about people with serious conditions avoiding hospitals, medical centres, etc. Certainly in Scotland, there was some concern that a number of people were missing out on important treatment because they were afraid of contracting the virus.

We're staying in, if you mean the chronically ill. I try to avoid my doctor because I can't take the risk of getting infected and I am not the only one.

I've also heard rumours that cancer treatments are being suspended because of their affect on the body's immune system.

The sick folk are still around, they just aren't going to the doctor or ER unless they are really sick.

My work has been really, really slow for the past several weeks to the point where I am sitting and waiting on work to come in for 5 or so minutes up to15 minutes at times. But, things have been starting to pick up since late last week. Unfortunately though, the majority is due to COVID-19. It's really hitting hard in the area of the hospitals I work for now.

It's weird too in that I am getting reports from people I've never heard of before, New docs, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, etc.

My wife's best friend is currently 2/3rds through chemo, and she's still going.

We're at the doc right now, as my wife's RA specialist wants her to have her regular lab work done, but the standalone labs aren't doing routine tests right now, so he's got to do the blood draw in his office.

Once that comes back, he'll do his appointment with her via telephone. My doc also called me a couple of weeks ago and gave me the option of cancelling or meeting via telephone, so I cancelled. We both also get regular treatments at the chiropractor, and he shut down his local office, but he's still seeing patients at his main office 40 minutes away, but he's asked that if a person can hold off treatment, please do so.

I also know my dermatologist is in the same mode: come in if you must, but we'd rather meet over the phone or postpone it altogether.

Many doctors here have gone to "virtual" appointments. They want to keep people at home, and keep their waiting rooms as empty as possible. I had a virtual appointment with my Gastorinterologist last week. It's like using FaceTime on your phone or computer. My other doctor's appointment last week was in person, but only because she needed to draw blood for testing.

Well, I made my first stop at the gourmet grocer I used to go to for some items before all this started. The difference between them and Kroger is night and day.

Plexiglass up between you and the cashier. Markings on the lanes to show social distancing, aisles are alternate one-way.

What's more, nearly everyone in masks, shoppers and workers alike, and everyone doing their level best to keep their distance.

Not only that, but they had everything. Toilet paper...check. Flour...check. Pasta...check. Meat...check and check. Not always a great selection, but they at least had everything in stock.

I'll still have to hit Kroger for my dog food, but from now on, I'm shopping the gourmet place.

On Sunday afternoon I did my periodic Ocado check and was most surprised to see some spare slots so I bagged one for tomorrow :okay: They actually had most of what I wanted in stock, but they're still limiting you to one bag of flour (across all types) and one box of eggs. We'll see what substitutions there are though when I get the receipt tomorrow morning! We're getting around the lack of delivery (and click and collect) slots by clubbing together with the neighbours....in fact most of our shop arriving tomorrow isn't actually for us. We're getting a load of stuff for the guy across the road (health issues) and for our next door neighbours. In return our neighbours have a slot next week so if we need anything they'll add it to their order for us.

but I'm not sure as if I'm going to the trouble of driving into a shop, I may as well just do my shopping.
I'd normally agree with you, but at the moment the attraction of click and collect is that you minimise potential contact with other people. Some people are great at keeping their distance, but others seem to be totally oblivious  I've never done click and collect before but we managed to bag a slot on 1st May for Morrisons so I'll see how it goes!

I managed to bag a slot the other day but there are none available today. Beware that even though they appear to have what you want, some of it may not be there on delivery! I managed to get 2 boxes of eggs.

"Thai media reported that not a single new case of coronavirus had been reported in 25 provinces in Thailand in the two week period from April 2nd to 15th.

Nine provinces in the kingdom remain without any cases at all since the pandemic began."

Including Bangkok, Thailand has 77 provinces.

Yeah that's always the problem with online grocery shopping. We didn't do too badly.....out of 65 items we only had two substitutions :okay: One was fine: one brand of bread flour substituted for a different one. One at least made some kind of sense: instead of 500g of dried chickpeas I got one 400g tin of chickpeas (not really the quantity I needed.....4 tins would have been a better substitution!). The third one was way off though: we ordered a pork pie but they sent a steak pie.....that one was sent back.

Ha, ha seem odd I read email from friend they order Paracetamol tablet they substitute with dishwasher tablet!!!

Bizarre world.

Another word used in the UK that I had to look up was paracetamol. Over here, the generic name name is acetaminophen -- name brand is Tylenol.
