How is the corona virus affecting you?

As states reopen, some might prefer to take small steps. Baby steps, & not be too anxious to go out & eat.

Texas partially opens tomorrow (Friday). I may drive through some restaurant parking lots to see what crowds look like. Polls here seem to indicate that the overwhelming majority of people are not going to dine-in at the restaurants, yet.

Some restaurants are going to remain carry-out, because nobody makes money a 25-percent occupancy, especially waitstaff, who work for tips -- things are a bit different hare than in Yurrip when it comes to waitstaff compensation. Waters in Texas are paid $2.13 per hour, plus what they earn in tips. $2.13 is the national minimum wage for workers who receive tips. Please remember that if you visit the US.

I'll be so glad when some of them reopen in Massachusetts. I'm so blasted tired of eating take-out food!! I want to go & sit down & be waited on for a change!! :stop:

Me too. But restaurants are likely not to be allowed to open until summer has passed.

A pity really for the owners but also for me as my birthday is in august and I had invited a group of people to go have sushi with me as I've always wanted to celebrate my 33th birthday in a big way. That will likely not happen now.

I really hope that the re-opening doesn't cause a new wave. I was reading this:
Coronavirus in Texas: State sees highest single-day death toll from COVID-19

The Texas Tribune is a good website. They also have a radio show on public radio that I like to listen to.

For those of you who do not know anything about the counties mentioned in that linked article, Harris County is most of Houston (the 4th largest city in the US), Dallas County is most of Dallas (duh), Tarrant county is Fort Worth, Bexar county is San Antonio. Travis County is Austin.

I live in Collin County. I get an email everyday from my city, which is mostly in Collin County and partially in Denton County. The email covers new cases of Covid-19, deaths, and recoveries. As we "open up" tomorrow, I'll be watching those numbers.

Here's a funny little C19-related tidbit:

We were notified at work yesterday what the tentative plan is for returning to work. Everyone who's currently working from home will continue to do so until June 7th, and after that, we'll split into two teams and alternate two weeks in the office, then two weeks home, and that'll continue at least through July.

Here's the interesting part: it appears that while we've been staying home, a few thousand employees (we're spread across the US) have been bucking the company order and occasionally coming in anyway.

Who does that? I think I'm a good employee, I work hard and get my work done, but I've never felt any personal desire to chance my health for my job.

Anyway, they said that going forward, they'll be monitoring this more closely and disciplinary action will follow for those who are supposed to be home but choose to come in.

Additionally, since our yearly vacation time doesn't roll over year-to-year, they're "highly encouraging" everyone take five days of vacation by June 30th, just as a way to get people in the frame of mind to use their vacation time.

My sleep cycle is all messed up, lately. I often don't fall asleep until morning.

I used to be like that until a year or so ago and had been for many years. I often stayed up until 4 am. I've now managed to train myself to go to bed by 1 am and get up at 8 -9 am. Strictly no screens or phones after 10 pm!
