How is the corona virus affecting you?

That's the same here, and our government has given in. I'm worried this will cause a second wave, so I will be careful regardless.
We've now reached the point where more and more politicians and pundits are openly saying, "Look, people are gonna die, that's just the way it is, so let's just get back to normal and hope for the best."

I could understand that if this were some kind of calamity with no resolution or no end in sight, like the moon were to slowly begin to crash into the planet, or a new ice age, but this isn't like that. At some point, and likely within the next 18 months, there will be a vaccine, everyone who can get it will get it, and then things can rightly go back to normal.

I can only speak for myself, but I can put up with almost anything unpleasant, as long as I know there's an end date.

I want to be clear, I'm not talking about the economic side, I'm obviously lucky in that one of us is still bringing in money, but the idea of risking your life so you can walk around Walmart without a mask on or sit in a McDonald's on top of 45 other people is crazy to me.

Things seem to be changing, there is more traffic on the road, more people out and about. Tomorrow is supposed to be a scorcher of a day so everyone will be ignoring the distancing rule.

Government here is talking about opening some work places with social distancing in place. At the moment there are no clear guidelines on how this could or should work. You mentioned the company you work for has been operating throughout Lullabelle?

I can't remember if I posted it earlier, but we're set to start back June 7th, working in two-week rotations, and we have to practice social distancing, wear masks, and have our temperature taken upon entering the building in the morning. That's through July, and then it'll be reassessed at that point.

Here's a good question - how am I supposed to drink tea/coffee with a mask on? I'm not even joking, because I know someone will see me drinking tea and will say something to my manager. I just know it.

Our latest relaxation of the lockdown is that you may eat (but not drink alcohol) in a restaurant on condition that you wear a mask and ensure that you sit at least 1.5 metres from another guest. Even if the other guests arrived in the same car as you.

Despite this I am not knocking the rules which have been ordered here, however silly they may seem. Up until to today, we have suffered only 55 deaths from the virus in a population of 70 million (according to government figures).

Same here. What I am knocking is the rulemakers' failure to appreciate the lack of common sense among the populace :)

How do you eat with a mask on? :scratchhead:

Yes, no change here, if anything we have become busier, we are lucky that our suppliers are happy to keep supporting us. Part of what we do is supplying to a company who supply the NHS-that is keeping us busy.

I was just wondering what measures you have in place at work regarding prevention of transmission of the virus; social distancing etc.

Benches have been moved and folks can only use their own tools
Break times have been staggered so no crowds
We are actively encouraged to keep apart
There are bottles of anti-bacterial sprays-paper towels, gloves etc...
Drinks machine has to be wiped down after every use
Photocopier is wiped down after every use
Deliveries, cleaners only no other visitors allowed
The cleaner Karen now uses much stronger cleaning solutions on door handles, work surfaces
Some doors are left open so they don't have to be touched
Only 1 person at a time is allowed in the kitchen-canteen is closed
Only 1 person at a time can use the toilets.

That's good to know. It sounds sensible. :okay:

Monday here goes to level two. Pubs and restaurants are open but distancing. Walk into bar and sit down. Staff will approach you and deliver goods. Schools go back and we can travel by plane, not holiday but just internal. I'm not going anywhere yet!

Mass. Gov. Charlie Baker has made it mandatory for masks to be worn in all stores, banks & any place where large groups of people may congregate.
