How is the corona virus affecting you?

The important thing is that we now have a new, and even more meaningless, slogan. For about the first time in my life, I find myself in full agreement with Nicola Sturgeon. Strange days indeed.

We need a whip round to buy Bungling Boris a new packet of crayons - he's clearly struggling to draw up a credible plan. Some parts of the press are even putting him on a par with the tangerine turd. So manufacturing is to be restarted. Would that be manufacturers of planes, buses, trains, cars? There's a big market for those at the moment. Or perhaps manufacturers of all the stuff that gets sold in the shops that are still closed? Does he really think that employers are going to take staff off state funded furlough and start paying their wages again when they may not even be able to buy the materials needed to make the stuff that no one is buying? Construction starts up again. Great idea, lets build loads of houses, offices and industrial units that people can't afford to buy, can't even view or get mortgage valuations done on, let alone actually move into.

Our incompetent government hasn't yet got to grips with the first phase of this problem. PPE, testing, track and trace, effective quarantine all need to be fully sorted before we should even consider lifting restrictions. If they got their act together and did this then we could all get back to work in a few weeks. I don't think people realise that if (or when, if we pursue this course) a second wave comes in, we will not simply be going back into lockdown for a couple of weeks - we will be re-setting back to where we were at the start of March, probably looking at 2-3 months of misery having totally wasted the sacrifices made to date. It would be laughable, were it not so tragic.

Pubs and restaurants open Thursday with groups of up to 10. Distancing to stay. Schools go back next Monday. Level 2 with restrictions. This government is dragging its heels, making stuff up as they go. Minister of health reprimanded , mountain bike riding, shifting house, going to the beach with his family. One rule for him and one for others. Prime minister found out about leaked e mail gagging her staff. These people are playing with people's lives. Rant over.

I went to 7-Eleven to grab a quick item. There were the owner, two employees and about six customers in the store, plus me -- the ONLY person wearing a mask. One old guy who looked like he was stuck in the fifties (last time Merica was great), looked at me like I had an extra eye in my forehead.

Last week in Kroger, mask wearers seemed to be in the minority, too.

I don't know if it's getting that way all over, or just in deep Red States like Texas.

No one here in my house or my kids have worn a mask, we don't even have any. I have an expensive respirator in the garage though. That may be overkill. At the supermarkets about 50% have masks on.

Week before last, I went to Kroger on a Wednesday, right around 4:30PM. No social distancing, and maybe a quarter of the people were wearing masks. Lots of moms (and some dads) with kids, fairly crowded.

Last Wednesday, I went at 8AM, totally different story, probably 80% masks, and most people were being somewhat careful about distancing.

I'll be interested this week, because it'll be the first full week after our first opening phase and after the governor announced restaurants will be opening this month.

We will have to because they are mandatory in public transport now. All that is allowed are non medical masks however.
I have ordered a mask made from special cloth that's breathable, because with my lung damage everyone is going to think I have corona from the huffing I will do when wearing any other kind of mask.
My husband has also ordered a set of cloth masks for him and the children.

They're not really comfortable with glasses on, you're supposed not to touch your face but that means I will see nothing with my glasses on. And if I don't put them on, I won't see much either. Same will go for everyone else here, we all wear glasses.

I wear specs as well, and what works best for me is just wear them further down my nose. Uncomfortable and inconvenient, yes, but it's better than the fog.

I'm sure you've read all the tips and tricks by now, but in case you haven't, this is from our national public radio (meaning, it's non-commercial):

I like the host's last remark, about just taking your glasses off and pretending you live in an impressionistic painting. :)

For the first time, my state, NSW, had no confirmed be cases today!

Restrictions have started to be lifted. Some last Friday, some this coming Friday. But because I live in NSW, but frequent ACT, I have to keep up with 2 sets of changes which are different!

No mandatory masks in either, and like rascal, we don't have any either. Mind you public transport is pretty non existent here in the rural areas.

My parents are still here, still stranded and have more outstayed their original visas. They are now on bridging visas, waiting to see if they're application for extended visitor visas will be granted. They are scared stiff of returning home to the UK if and when they actually could (they have return flights with Singapore Airlines, so Singapore had to reopen first).

I like how tolerant you Brits are of political "critiques." If I posted your exact words about our current administration, other Americans would chastise me, and call for "no politics on the forum."

I vote for my preferred candidates. I don't worship them. Many Americans are the same way, but the loudest and most volatile are the "true believers." I had to go to WalMart today to get a 10-pound box of Milk Bones for my dog (yes, 10-pounds of dog biscuits), and saw a woman with a T-shirt emblazoned with "Jesus is my Savior, and Trump is my President." Does that kind of "enthusiasm" happen much in the UK?

The republicans vs the dems is very strong, I watch politics a bit, CNN and not so much fox. I have friends on both sides. It's difficult at times commenting, lol.

I went to Kroger around 5PM. I'd guesstimate that two-thirds of customers were wearing masks. The ones not wearing make didn't seem to care much about social distancing, either.

Then, I had to go to WalMart to get a couple things I couldn't get at Kroger, like the aforementioned 10-pounds of dog biscuits. I'd say it was about 50-60 percent mask usage.
