How to chop onions without crying

Funny isn’t it because in general I don’t like frozen veg. I only tend to buy green beans and edamame frozen. I don’t much like what freezing does to the texture of other veg. Apart from chips 😋
Well, you are going to love this:

The only frozen vegetable I buy is English green peas. That and sometimes I will buy frozen spinach (specific for a recipe for cold spinach dip at the holidays, the rest of the year I buy fresh).

I used to find it unbearable but now I don’t shed a single tear!
I don’t know why. Perhaps it’s because I only buy red onions 🤷‍♀️
Or perhaps it’s that I keep them in the fridge 🤷‍♀️
Or perhaps it’s just the loss of sensitivity that people over 50 generally get 🤷‍♀️
UK onions have been bred to reduce the compound that causes the problem.

Coming over to Australia we noticed the difference immediately. Literally the first onion we cut into.

We both decided we prefer onions that make your eyes run. Sadly they are looking at introducing those onions here as well. Onions seem to be one veg that I don't grow very well. I think it's the soil pH that's wrong.
