Yup. Most of the cornfields here in my part of Ohio are not in rows, the field is packed full of feed corn. They alternate the following year with soybeans, no idea what they do with them (though I do love some edamame).

Soybeans act as a green fertiliser...
Plus indeed used for oil and cattle feed.
Our oil is labelled as soybean oil or vegetable oil (I'll check next time if the veg oil is actually soybean).
I use sunflower and olive oil.
Peanut oil is just too expensive
