Ms. Mofet's Deep Fried Mushrooms
1 lb. Fresh small mushrooms
Seasoned flour:
2 C. Flour
Ground peppercorns - To Taste
Salt - To Taste
All-purpose house blend seasoning - To Taste - Optional
Mix all ingredients in a tray or bowl. Taste and adjust to your liking if needed.
Egg wash:
1 Egg
1 TBSP. Milk, Half & Half, Cream, or Water
Crumb Breading:
2 C. Plain Bread crumbs
1 tsp. Garlic powder
1 tsp. Onion powder
1 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Ground black pepper
1 tsp. Dry oregano
1 tsp. Dry basil
1 tsp. Dry parsley
1/4 C. Grated Romano and Parmesan cheeses
Ground hot pepper flakes or cayenne - To Taste - Optional
1 tsp. Dry Adobo seasoning blend - To Taste - Optional
Accent/MSG - To Taste - Optional
Mix all ingredients in a tray or bowl. Taste and adjust to your liking if needed.
Bacon fat (or Oil of choice) for deep frying (I used bacon fat)
In deep heavy pot or deep fryer; heat fat/oil (fat or oil should be deep enough so mushrooms can float freely) to 400°F.
Wash mushrooms and dry thoroughly on towels.
Dredge in flour, then dip in egg wash then crumbs.
Deep fry in oil till golden brown.
Remove and drain on paper towels.
May serve with a dip if desired.
