National Fish and Chip Day, Friday 2nd June 2017

As I have nothing planned for tomorrow I shall probably participate in this (albeit I'm 10,000 km from Yorkshire). I purchased some dripping (1 kg) last week which would make it really "Yorkshire" but the deep fry still has fresh oil in it (which we could not possibly throw out). I have cod and mushy peas in the freezer and Sarson's vinegar in the fridge.

Unfortunately my latest pickled onions will not be ready as an accompaniment but I do have some pickled gherkins in the fridge. Not authentic but we shall see.

That list missed out one local to me that does superbly fresh and perfectly cooked haddock with the lightest batter and always golden and crunchy chips (clean oil). I'm not sure we are allowed to advertise so, if not, I am sure the link below can be snipped.

There's no issue with a member recommending somewhere that's not their own business, so please feel free to name it. My brother would probably love to know as well.

Maybe build up a list of those worth going to.

Could always be done as a review as well. National event is too big to cover with just one. But is the perfect chance to get a local review in.
