Pet Peeves

I haven't been to Chicago in ten years or more, but the "panhandlers" there were aggressive. I don't carry cash, and told a guy that in Chicago, and he got up in my face and called me a liar -- along with a tirade of profanity. Thing is, I really didn't have any cash to give him.
When I worked in downtown Minneapolis, I'd get off the bus just as we entered downtown and foot it the rest of the way in, usually through the skywalk system.

We had our regulars for beggars there, same places every day, and they got to be as familiar as the shop workers and shoe-shine guys.

One guy was known to be fairly aggressive, he'd shout to you specifically as you'd walk by, "Hey! You! Yeah, you with the camera bag! I see you! You better get your butt over here! Don't keep walking! You'll be sorry later!" - that sort of thing, and nobody really took him too seriously.

One guy, probably from outside the city, did stop to toss some pocket change in his bucket, and the beggar started screaming at him, "Change?! CHANGE?! What the 🤬 am I supposed to do with 🤬 change, 🤬! You better get that 🤬 outta my bucket and find some 🤬 bills, you 🤬!"

The guy was terrified and sort stuck in place, until another commuter just kind of swooped in and rescued him.

I forgot about the citronella plant. They definitely help with mosquitos. Only thing is they aren't very pretty, at least to me.

We have had problems with windshield washers in downtown Miami and Fort Lauderdale especially. Haven't heard much, if any, about them lately, though. They'd cone up to your car when you are stuck in traffic, spray your window with a spray bottle and then start cleaning it with a rag, usually a nasty one, without asking first, then scream at you if you didn't pay/tip them. Some of them would smack your window/windshield with open hand as well. Cops started cracking down because they were getting so aggressive and scaring people.

Craig was driving with his boss once and they got off the interstate at 1 of the main exits to downtown Fort Lauderdale, which is where the shop was. There was a begger there with a sign advertising his homelessness. Craig's boss stopped and offered him a job sweeping up the warehouse. The guy started cursing him out up 1 way and down the other. All he wanted was a money handout.

That kind of crap would get him arrested in Dallas.

BTW, I've only been to Minneapolis once... in January. Breathing outside made my lungs hurt.

I can't post the video link, because of the 'colorful" language, but search "lewis black minnesota winters" on YouTube.

Cincy beggars tend to follow you and make chummy small talk for about a block, until they get around to asking for money.

My GF won't watch television with me..I always critique things way to much for her..I say things like "ya, right! That would never happen" or "As if!"..you know, smart ass stuff.....she usually pauses it until I leave...I love relationships...

When I was a kid staying at my nanas watching tv, after a movie or something, at the end she used to say to me., and what did the band play? I had no idea what she was talking about, so she told me, the band was playing believe it if you like. Her interpretation of tv. I still say it to this day.

I'm on first names with our window washer, I usually flick him a 5er, he is quite a regular on Blenheim rd where I see him, when he's not locked up. He is well known as he got caught on camera punching a Pedo on his way into court for molesting kids. He gained a lot of respect from me after that. He did time again for that. He's an ex boxer who happens to have a drug problem ATM. I havnt seen him in 6 months.

Can you provide a translation please?

We annoy each other with the movie thing. We like to watch mostly the same things (sci-fi, mysteries, Brit stuff), except that she also likes sappy rom-coms (I don't) and I also like low-budget '60's-'70's movies (she doesn't).

I'll pick hers apart, and she does the same to mine.

My wife loves reality tv, I don't. We have tv in our bedroom, I have no idea how it works. I call her stuff brain dead viewing. We watch things we like from 9ish until she goes to bed. Her alarm goes off at 7am.
