Except it was a different woman’s first name (not his mums), it was the name of the woman he had been caught having an affair with.
Plus they have two boys AND a girl.
Plus his mum didn’t know anything of the people who sent it.
It was flung on the table in front of everyone at cup of tea time, she wanted an explanation.
I thought Oh hell, this is going to be catastrophic.
But he had taken to sometimes calling his wife by her middle name which was coincidentally the same as the woman he had been having the affair with, I think possibly it was to cover up getting them mixed up.
So when he feigned ignorance and turned it into a big joke everyone believed him.
Except me. I couldn’t believe what I was witnessing. Five of them all laughing and guffawing at the silly people who sent a Christmas card to the wrong house

I mentioned it to Mr SSOAP after and was summarily dismissed, I was reading too much into it.
I had my suspicions confirmed about 10years after that but that’s another story!

I don’t want to get into too many details, as we’re not in he shielded part of the forum, but no he didn’t get caught out, he just made a decision as to which family he preferred and went from there.

It was a helluva crazy circumstance, at the level of a great ‘60’s farce movie, and there are still days when I see him and think, “I can’t believe you actually pulled that off!”
There are…three second/third marriages in my family (that I know of) that would make excellent TV viewing. You start out thinking things like that are an aberration, but as you make your way through the world, you realize it’s a lot more common than you think. Everyone has skeletons back there somewhere.
It’s too much to get into, but I’ll say his first family had it coming, and more IMO, he just handled it poorly, and yes, even though this’ll sound flippant and I don’t mean it to, it made me think, “Good for you!”

Nice play on words.Trying to minimize driving so I'll only be going to the dump today. That'll be 6 miles round trip. Last month I drove 1400 miles and no idea how that happened.
After that I'll set the tiller up for storage snce I won't be needing that till end of year.
