Plans for today (2025)

The Best Mary Berry Lamb Shanks Recipe

I am going to start them in my enameled cast iron Dutch oven, browning them well and remove from the pot. Then sauteeing the carrots, onion, celery, and garlic in that pot. Then deglazing with red wine (DH's homemade cabernet sauvignon), adding beef broth, tomato sauce, herbs, and cooking shanks and everything back into the pot and into the oven for several hours. Might make parmesan risotto or mashed potatoes. It will depend on how lazy I feel later (dinner at around 10-11pm). It's time to get started.
Ok, in the oven. I think I'll do the mashers. Not feeling terribly energetic.

That really stinks that they left no fingerprints. But how do you know it was Maori? I have heard that often when someone gets broken into, it was someone they knew or someone who had been to their house for some reason (service repairs, deliveries, etc.) and knew that the homeowner had something valuable to take and also knew that they wouldn't be home at the time of the break-in.

My DH owned a security alarm system company for a number of years. We had some friends who after getting their house broken into (and were on a tight budget so couldn't afford a security system and the monitoring fees) asked DH if they could have some signs to put up in their yard. He gave them some signs and they put one in the front and one in the back. That was 2 decades ago and the thieves never returned, or if they did, they saw the signs and left.

It sucks that you have that big of a deductible.

Because a park backs onto my section I noticed some tree guys up a snorkel trimming trees
I drove over there and they ssid 2 maoris were seen hanging around my back fence. He said it looked suspicious .

Water bill went from$15/month to over $200 so waiting for the plumbers to get here. They'll show up and crawl under the house, which isn't where the leak is, and that'll be a bill. Then the leak detector guy will show up and find the leak in the *it's the wrong kind of pvc* pipe in the 250 yards to the meter with his bill and then the plumbers will show back up to fix it. Flippin' circus of poor procedure.

Anyhow, when all that's done I'm making cornbread. Pippi likes hers with lots of butter. 🤪
