Recipe question

It might have been my negligence. I hated doing the labelling etc. but at some point TastyReuben said he didn't mind doing it (soothing activity
or something), so he took over.

If was most likely me.
Well in the US, that's grounds for acquittal since two people are claiming to have committed the same quite heinous crime, LOL.

Honestly, it's fine. I don't expect anyone wants to go through the trouble of trying to recreate that complicated recipe. But, I have no idea who else had recipes that might have been simple and tasty rather than laborious like mine...I would do that again at some point, though. I know how to find it if so!

Hope I'm not being thick and someone sees this!😅

How and where do you actually post a separate recipe as opposed to adding a post containing a recipe to a thread? I'm not seeing anywhere to add a thread/recipe on the recipe challenge thread so guessing perhaps it's creating a new thread which is the recipe added to a forum? Also, when looking at others' posted recipes, they have several tags of course, but where do they live or appear, as in where are they located and to be found without a search? Some seem to be in certain forums, others not.

TIA!

Edited to add:
Is there a way to reply to multiple posters on a thread?

You’d post your recipe in the appropriate Ingredients sub-forum, one contained here:

So…if you have a recipe for some sort of egg dish, like Eggs Florentine, you’d post that in the Dairy & Eggs sub-forum as a new post. Click on that, click the little arrow for the prefix pop-up and choose Recipe, and fill in the title:

The body should contain the recipe itself, and we do ask that you follow the recipe formatting standards we already have (Ingredients, Method, and a source for the recipe, if applicable) - just click a few existing recipes and you’ll see.

You can add in any pertinent tags, then post it and that’s it.

Sure, you can quote multiple posts, and even cherry-pick parts of posts. Let’s say I want to respond to several parts of your post, I’d first highlight the text I want to respond to, then click Quote:

That’ll save it off to memory, which you’ll know by seeing this message up top:

Then just keep going, highlighting what you want and clicking Quote. They’ll all get stacked into memory.

When you’ve collected all you want, go to the Post Reply box and click Insert Quotes:

And you’ll see this:

All your quotes, ready to be responded to. Just click the Quote messages button, and they’ll be inserted into your reply, one after the other:

Just enter your responses to each quote and then post it. Done!

Tags are here when you’re entering a post:

In my pretend bread recipe, note that the system will auto-insert tags based on your content - if you don’t like that tag, just click the little x in the tag.

Let’s say my bread is vegan, I can add that tag by typing v…e…g… and after three characters, it’ll give you a list to choose from:

I can just click vegan at that point and the tag is added for me:

Once you’ve completed your recipe and posted it, tags will appear up top:

See the little luggage tag-looking icon to the left of the tag names? You can edit those and add or delete tags after you’ve posted a recipe by clicking that little icon and following the steps above:

Here, I’ve decided to add a tag for doughnut. Save it and that’s all you need to do.

guessing perhaps it's creating a new thread which is the recipe added to a forum?

Correct. Recipes should be created as a new thread in whichever forum they fit. The reason for this is that otherwise they get buried and lost inside discussiin threads and won't be revealed using the search engine.

TastyReuben has shown how to do this above. But if like me you prefer written instructions then:
  1. Click on a suitable forum to place your recipe
  2. Start a new thread with your recipe title.
  3. Add the recipe prefix (its a drop down menu in the box to left of the title field).
  4. Type in your recipe and add photos if you have them,
  5. Post the thread.

Thanks for all that TR. That's great - reallyw comprehensive. Still trying to figure out how to reply to you quoting a single sentence or part rather than the whole post plus quote image/s! But I will! 😅

Even I managed.

Go to the text, mark what you want and press "reply to"
The options that come up are "reply to" and "quote"
They are green on my screen (android phone)
Still trying to figure out how to reply to you quoting a single sentence or part rather than the whole post plus quote
And you got it :)

Simple - just highlight the sentence you want to quote, and you should see a little pop-up that shows Quote | Reply to - Quote will save it in memory for you to insert in a post later, Reply to will immediately put it in the Post Reply box below. There’s an example of that up above.
